It's really happening! It will open in August this year. Michael will be specializing in French/Asian fusion food. I am not sure what that means, but it should be awesome! I can't wait!
I decided I wanted to challenge myself to do something I didn't think I can do. I wanted to push myself more than I've ever pushed myself and what better way than to do three sports in one race. Yep! I am now training for a triathlon. I will still do the walking marathon, but I am cutting it down to a half marathon instead of a full one. But I think it will still be a good goal!
I can run a total of 5 minutes now!! Yay!! I started at 2 minutes so I am making some progress. I did some laps in a pool to make sure I still knew how to swim (I used to be a good swimmer). I forgot how much I LOVE to swim. I just don't like being in a swim suit. Finally, I have to buy a bicycle, then start training on that.
The triathlon is at the end of August...so I have some work to do. Wish me luck!
This town is IN FOR A TREAT!! Michael Wray, the winner of Hell's Kitchen Season One, is opening a restaurant here. It will be called "HK1" and will be located in the old Las Trankas or (for long time residents) the old Golden Corral building.
And how do I know firsthand that he cooks brilliantly?....because I've tried his cooking...twice.
My business partner and good friend, Danny, met Michael a few months ago and then brought him to a get together at a friend's house. A group of friends watch a Joss Whedon TV show called Dollhouse together on Friday nights. One time, about a month ago, Michael cooked us gourmet pizza. Oh...My...Gosh!! To die for.... even the Prosciutto and Fig pizza...sounds weird, I know, but ... AMAZING. I think I liked the pepperoni the best, though. I am a traditional girl. :o) For dessert, I was sous chef and helped Michael make banana tempura. Another phenomenal treat for my palate.
This past Friday was Dollhouse’s season finale. We had a big party and Michael once again came to make us dinner. This time he made Mediterranean food (lamb and bison kebabs, grilled steak, tzatziki sauce, hummus, grilled flat bread, and grilled vegetables). I was in heaven!!
And now he is going to cook for everyone in town. We are really in for a treat!
Look for the COMING SOON sign to be posted on Tuesday in front of the restaurant. Then watch as the building gets a new façade and takes its shape. Also take note of the logo…it was designed by Danny (a brilliant graphic designer … oh, yeah, he is also my business partner … he is the reason our web pages always look so good). Danny even had a big part in designing the new look of the building. I’ve seen the blue prints and it is going to look AMAZING!
I, for one, cannot wait!!
